Internet Marketing Tips - Are You Prepared For the Death of the Internet?

I remember as a kid listening to a re released recording of the "War Of The Worlds" broadcast done by Orson Wells back in the 30s. I can't believe that people actually believed that we were being invaded by Mars. My mom told me stories of how cars here in Jersey, where we live, were bumper to bumper all over the roads of NJ trying to get out of the state. Hard to imagine. Well, have you heard? The Internet is going to be dead by the year 2012.

Supposedly, ISPs are going to make it so that you can only view certain content online and if you want to view all the content that's online, you're going to have to pay extra in order to do that. Now, should that ever happen, it's going to hurt a lot of small businesses because a lot of revenue will be lost because of people who can't afford to pay that extra money to view their site. How much revenue? Who knows? Depends on how many people don't pay the extra charges.

Are you prepared? For that matter, are you worried? I'm not. For one thing, I doubt that this is ever going to happen. Why? Let's say all the major ISPs start charging to view content other than the sites that they want you to view. Don't you think that other ISPs are going to pop up to take advantage of this and get the business of people who refuse to be bullied by the big companies? When this happens, the big companies are going to start losing a TON of business and will eventually realize that they have to change their terms of service.

So if you're really concerned about the Internet killing your home business, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Do I know for certain that this can never happen? Of course not. Nobody really knows what regulations will or won't take place. But worrying about it is the last thing you should be doing. Just as there are those who will pay for seeing extra sites, I'm sure merchants will be given the option to have their sites be among the premium sites that are seen by all. And if you're running a sound business, this shouldn't be any real hardship for you to do.

So don't worry...be happy.

The Internet isn't dead yet.

To YOUR Success,

Steven Wagenheim
